Director of Finance at Village Power

Village Power’s core focus is to empower people in Uganda to improve their standard of living bybuilding a last mile- customer centric distribution & service network that provides great value formoney solar home systems, appliances and services to people mainly in rural areas.The Director of Finance will play the very important role of overall financial management. You willdevelop and ensure the implementation of financial strategies, as well as advise, support and informdecisions at all levels.The tasks include but are not limited to: budgeting, controlling, forecasting,managing debt, improving revenue and maintaining a healthy financial position to enhance theconfidence of all stakeholders.The duty station for this role is at head office in Kampala, although one may be required to travelupcountry from time to time. This Function is part of the Village Power Uganda top managementteam.Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Directing financial planning & strategy2. Analyzing complex financial data3. Setting financial targets4. Analyzing and reporting on financial performance5. Developing and ensuring the implementation of customer centric accounting processes6. Overseeing audits7. Ensuring tax compliance8. Ensuring compliance to accounting regulations9. Preparing forecasts and comprehensive budgets10. Reviewing department budgets11. Providing the organization with an efficient administrative framework12. Managing internal controls13. Overseeing credit management and the Pay-as-you-go platform14. Assessing, managing and minimizing risk15. Overseeing procurement & company imports16. Training and supporting the finance and administration teamCompetence, Skills & Attributes1. A qualified professional with proven financial management experience of at least 5years+ and an understanding of the above essential duties & responsibilities2. Certification in a professional course such as ACCA or CPA3. Proficiency in accounting software4. Strategic acumen5. Strong numerical and analytical skills6. Broad knowledge of accounting principles7. Ability to effectively communicate complex financial data and information to non-financial expertise8. High attention to detail and accuracy9. Solar industry and or micro finance knowledge would be of advantage10.
