VVOB – education for Development, is a non-profit organisation that focuses o improving the quality of education. VVOB partners with Ministries of Education at national and sub-national levels, and with public education institutions in nine countries globally.

Through time provision of technical assistance. the capacity of national governments and local education authorities for the design and implementation ci education policies and/or innovations is improved. WOB has its headquarters in Brussels (Belgium), and became operational in Uganda in 2019. VVOB has offices in Kampala, Gulu, and field offices in Arua and lsingiro. VVOB is currently recruiting various positions for its ongoing projects: TARL; Teaching at the Right level or Refugee and Host Communities and TAP: From Classroom to Land Teaching Agriculture Practically

TAP: From Classroom to Land: Teaching Agriculture Practically (2019-2021) ln June 2019. WOB started implementing a protect that focuses on improving the quality of Agricultural Education and Training in Uganda through strengthening the professional development of Ugandas Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors and agricultural O-level teachers via pre-service training.

This project is implemented in partnership with the Department of Teacher and instructor Education and Training (TIET); the Business, Technical, Vocational Education and Training (BTVET) Department oi the Ministry of Education an Sports (MoES) the National Teachers Colleges (NTCS; of Mubende and Unyama and the National instructors‘ College Abilonino (NIC-A) in Kole Districts The project team is comprised of around 13 people.

All staff is expected to regularly travel between the offices in Kampala and Gulu, and to the MoES, NTCs and NICA. WOB in Uganda is currently preparing the second phase of this programme, which will run from January 2022 until December 2026.
TaRL: Teaching at the Right Level (2020 -2024)

From 1 June 2020 onwards, WOB started implementing a new project that focuses on accelerated learning of numeracy and literacy through teaching at the right level (TARL) among refugee and host community learners in isingiro and Aru districts: Teaching at the Right Level (TARL) for Over-Age for Grace Adolescent Primary School Students in Refugee Hosting Communities in Uganda”.

The TsRL methodology enables upper primary learners to acquire literacy by grouping them according to their performance instead of age or grace. and by using learner-centered pedagogies. This programme ream is comprised or around seven people. White the Finance Officer is based in Kampala, the District coordinator ‘s expected to regularly travel between the crises in Kampala, Arua an to the MoES and other partners.

This project is implemented based on annual performance-based contracts. The current contract will end in May 2021, and it. is expected that the second year of this four year project will be approved.

Salary Range: From UGX 5,830,095 – 9,347,457 dependent on years of experience

Job Description
The District Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the planning. implementation and Monitoring of district level activities for the TaRL project, including trainings and TaRL sessions. As district project coordinator, you report directly in the project coordinator at head office in Kampala, and work closely together with the education advisor, the MEAL adviser, and the other district project coordinator.

You also report to the Program Manager and Operations Manager of VVOB in Uganda. You facilitate and support the training of the master trainers an-‘1 ensure high quality training of mentors and teachers. In addition, you contribute to the quality of TaRL session by regularly observing lessons and providing feedback to TaRL instructors.

You also collaborate closely with the DEO to support monitoring of TaRL_ implementation and learner progress, among others through regular coordination meetings. You nurture the communication for data collectIion which involves the MOES focal point, DEO, Coordinating Center Tutors, research partner staff, TIET, UNEB, NCDC, MoES Department of Basic Education. You ensure appropriate planning at district level and share these plans to inform the ‘ national planning processes.
