About UNRA:

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by the National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on 1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns.

Job Summary:  The Fleet Assistant will be responsible for vehicle operation and maintenance including daily checks, checking insurance validity, reporting damage or malfunction, ensuring security and cleanness of the vehicle. In addition the Fleet Assistant will be responsible for accounting for fuel issued, maintaining and updating the logbook at all times.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Ensure that all UNRA vehicles are properly, efficiently and cost-effectively maintained and repaired as needed in order to support UNRA activities.
    • Carry out daily assessment of the vehicle using the approved checklist to maintain the highest level of standards.
    • Organize and run the maintenance schedules and report damage or malfunction of the vehicles to the Administration Officer – Transport and Logistics.
  • Update the fleet management system with vehicle details, allocation and returned vehicle details as appropriate.
  • Ensure security of the vehicle.
  • Ensure that UNRA vehicles are clean at all times.
  • Maintain and update vehicle logbook at all times.
  • Check for validity of insurance and First Aid box.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) Fleet Assistant
  • job opportunity must hold an Ordinary Level Certificate of Education or in any other relevant field
  • A level certificate is an added advantage
  • Valid driving permit is a must
  • Permit class CH is a must
  • At least five years’ experience in operating and maintaining vehicles in a similar organization.
  • High level of integrity
  • Proven track record of outstanding performance
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, particularly staff/management relations
  • Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks
