JOB DETAIL

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has received a grant from the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention {CDC} Cooperative Agreement (CoAg), a strategic mechanism of the United States Government (USG) to implement activities in line with its mandate in support of the Public health response to HIV/AIDS and other health systems.

CDC will be supporting a pool of Human Resources that are expected to lead the implementation of the grant. The staff to be recruited under this grant will be contracted by the MOH. The contracts are for one (1) year renewable subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance of the staff.

Job Title: Infection Prevention and Control Specialist (IPC)
Reports to: Commissioner Clinical Services

Job Purpose: IPC specialist will to support the coordination and implementation of IPC at central and regional level. Will provide onsite mentorship, peer to peer skills transfer to the MOH IPC counterparts for sustainability. The specialist will work with MOH and central level institutions, coordinating the national IPC committee, revision of national IPC guidelines, supporting the development of SOPs, supporting standardization of IPC training materials and approaches. Specialist will specifically support RRH teams building their capacity in IPC mentorship and strengthening IPC committees at different levels

Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognised University/ Institution.
• Master’s degree in a clinical discipline, Public Health or any health related discipline from a recognized University/institution is must.

Experience
At least six (6) years of experience working in the Ugandan health system at regional /national level three (3) of which should be at a level of Senior Officer.
