Job Summary: The Librarians will support and enhance an environment that caters for 21st century inquiry based learning.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• To create and support a professional library system that organises, tracks and monitors usage of facility and resources.
• To update the Watoto Schools Information Management System with the required staff information on a monthly basis and provide reports for requested staff information.
• To support teachers in updating their teaching and learning materials by providing and recommending relevant and up to date information and resources available in the library.
• To support school clubs in accessing, gathering and organising information and liaise with staff to use the library for a variety of educational purposes, theme weeks and projects displays.
• To assist in the implementation of the school reading program and liaise with Deputy academics and Heads of Departments to improve the reading programs.
• To devise and implement library induction and orientation for all new students and teachers.
• To ensure that the library environment is inviting, engaging, stimulating and up to date to the users.
• To plan, budget and recommend for the acquisition of materials and equipment which are appropriate for the curriculum, students and teachers.
• To create an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning, resource-based instructional practices in collaboration with teaching staff.
• To plan and organise library media programs like use of ICT, audio visual spaces

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The ideal candidate for the Watoto Child Care Ministry Watoto Schools Librarian job opportunity should hold a Diploma or Degree in Library and Information Science and other related degrees.
• Two years of teaching experience within a large, active and vibrant organisation.
• Should have an outstanding organisational and communication skills , a team player and able to work under minimum supervision and tight deadlines.
• Computer literacy with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent Oral and Written communication skills and effective record keeping.
• A willingness to keep up-to-date with information technology and library trends.
• Should be creativity and innovative.
