JOB DETAILS:
This position is responsible for advocating, listening, protecting, celebrating and demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ to the Children of Grace (CoG) sponsored children. The ideal coach will be competent in prioritizing and working with little supervision, self-motivated and trustworthy. A children of Grace Life Coach is to be a Christian role-model for the mentees, providing relevant mentorship, character development, academic, social, spiritual and personal support to the students under their care.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

A Students Life Coach within the Students Life Unit will conduct day to day engaging life coaching sessions for Children of Grace sponsored students with short term (weekly), midterm (Monthly/termly) and long term (After Senior 4, 6, vocational or University) goals for each of their mentees in their academics, social-economic and career development.
The Main Duties Are As Follows:

  1. Students’ Academic support and empowerment (80%)
  2. Schools partnership management (15%)
  3. Other responsibilities (5%)

Students’ Academic support and empowerment (80%)

  • Conduct one-on-one with the students that need help and support for 1 to 2 hour sessions per week and be available as an ongoing resource for them throughout the year.
  • Document coaching sessions by ensuring students log-in before and log-out after their sessions in the provided tool.
  • Submit Report Forms containing sessions summaries for each Student under their coaching program.
  • Assess student’s academic and career development needs and develop an individual plan to provide personalized support for each student.
  • Monitor and assess student progress toward short (weekly), medium (Termly) and long term goals during their mentorship sessions throughout the school year.
  •  Complete Student coaching write-ups at the conclusion of each coaching session summarizing students’ progress on their short term and medium term goals.
  •  Communicate any training needs and/or student concerns to operations manager.
  •  Assist with programming and/or empowerment workshops as requested by their Supervisor.
  •  Support students to conduct at least 1 community service project and offer necessary supervision and follow up.
  • Conduct home visits and guardian engagements to advocate for the children.
  •  Work both independently and as part of a team with fellow coaches and Students.
  •  Report in the provided tool all the sessions and activities conducted with the students.
  •  Form students’ business clubs within the school and engage on weekly activities.

Schools partnership management (15%)

  • Ensure Children of Grace has up dated Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with allocated schools and ensure that the conditions of the MOUs are upheld by both parties.
  •  Identify and work with Head teachers, Directors and class teachers, within the schools to conduct follow-up meetings on the performance of the students during weekly school visits.
  •  Work with the schools’ administration to have time allocated to coaching, character development, career guidance, coaching activities during weekly school visits.
  • Advocate for children’s rights at schools with the teachers and other stakeholders.

Other responsibilities (5%)

  • Other duties as required, including occasional work on weekends and public holidays for which time off in lieu can be taken in consultation with the Director of Operations.
