JOB DETAILS:
The Directorate of Human Resources, Makerere University seeks to recruit persons of high integrity and professionalism to fill three full-time positions under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
POSITION: SUPPORT SERVICES & WELFARE OFFICER (only female applicants)
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Program Manager
TENURE OF APPOINTMENT: 2 Years Contract.

Job Description

  • Organise orientation program for new Scholars & General Assemblies for all Scholars
  • Coordinate the housing scheme for the Scholars is.
  • Coordinate the Utilisation of the health insurance scheme for Scholars
  • Support International Travels for Scholars
  • Cultivate give back ethos in Scholars
  • Provide information & advice to students on personal/ welfare issues
  • Ensure timely & appropriate procurement of the required goods and services
  • Provide activity and quarterly reports
  • Any other duty assigned by the Program Manager

Essential Academic Qualifications and Experience

Education: A Masters University Degree (by research) from a recognized University and a Bachelor Honors degree in Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration. Human Resource Management, Education, Psychology, Counselling and Guidance or any similar field. An advanced certificate Diploma in Counselling and Guidance is an added advantage

Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in designing, implementing and managing social/welfare
• programmes
• Working experience with at least one Youth Programme or academic scholarship programme
• Experience in Provision of Psycho-social support is an added advantage

Competencies:
• A good understanding of policies and regulations of a University with specific regards to Student Welfare and well being
• Ability to engage with the Youth and Excellent Customer care service skills
• Ability to preserve confidentiality of work-related information and data
• Ability to work in a team and with good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and deliver within tight timelines
• Relevant Computer Skills VII. Excellent Written and verbal Communications
• Languages: Excellent written and spoken command of English
