Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) is one of the national Assessment Boards in Uganda. This is a professional Examinations Board with the mandate to streamline, regulate, coordinate and conduct credible examinations and award Certificates and Diplomas in the Business, Technical and Vocational professions.

The Board therefore conducts Business, Technical and Vocational examinations, including Applied Science specialties such as Biological Sciences (Agricultural, Fisheries, Wildlife, Forestry, Bee keeping and other related fields), Physical Sciences (Meteorology, Surveys and Land Management, and other related fields), Cooperative, Social Development, Hotel, Catering and Tourism.

Job Title: Vocational Assessment Officer, Civil & Water Engineering (1 Post)

Job Purpose
To implement assessment processes in Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration fields..

Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise the process of development, moderation, typing and proofreading of test items in the Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood Technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration and ensure they are conducted in line with rules and regulations;
• Participate in the process of development of assessment syllabi, tools, manuals and guidelines in Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood Technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration fields;
• Participate in verification of continuous assessment marks/results of candidates in Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood Technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration fields;
• Ensure Timely preparation and development of unit work plans, budgets and activity progress reports;
• Provide all necessary information for analysis and development of policy, Manuals, standards, examination time-tables and circulars for the Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood Technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration fields;
• Provide all technical input in the process registration of candidates (verification and enrolment), and actively participate in marking exercise in Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood Technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration fields;
• Maintain an updated database of academic programmes in Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood Technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration fields;
• Participate in the preparation and implementation of registration of candidates (verification and enrolment), supervision and marking of exams in Building and Construction, Plumbing, Wood Technology, Pottery and Ceramics, Painting and Decoration fields;
• Coordinate and the prepare for Awards meetings;
• Manage performance of staff who directly report to him/her;
• Under take any other duties that may be assigned to him or her by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Working Experience:
• An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Civil & Building Engineering (Civil, Highway, Structural, construction, Architecture) or Water & Environmental Engineering (waters and sanitation, or Environmental Engineering) from a recognised institution;
• A Diploma in Civil engineering fields (civil, highway, structural, construction) or Water & Environmental Engineering (water and sanitation, or Environmental Engineering) from a recognised institution;
• A minimum of a Certificate in Technical/Vocational Teacher Education, a MUST;
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience;
• 25 – 40 years of age at entry.
