Food for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in Asia, Latin America and Africa with support offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to end all forms of poverty World-wide.

In Uganda, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala. .

2. Job Title: Gender and Protection Officer (1 position)
Position Type: Full Time National Staff
Location: Field Based -Lamwo
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Contract Length: 1 year with possibility of extension(Fixed Contract).
Start Date: April
Job Purpose:
While the primary focus of the GPO will be the Nutrition Project funded by WFP in Lamwo, the incumbent will be required to support the entire Organization in ensuring that Gender and Protection issues are mainstreamed in all the programs/projects
Key Result 1:
Provide technical support to the project team
Provide advice and support to the Project teams and the entire Organization in the Implementation of the key gender and protection components.
Analyze and ensure the interventions are sensitive to issues of inclusion of both refugees and host communities.
Key Result 2:
Monitoring and reporting on gender and protection issues
• Give technical support to the field staff on mainstreaming gender and protection, in the implementation of activities.
Prepares and updates reports in coordination with the M&E Officer and ensures timely submission.
Key Result 3:
Networking and Coordination
• Liaise with key National and Internationals stakeholders and donors to facilitate and enhance contribution towards the implementation of the gender equality agenda.
Establishes, coordinates, and maintains relationships with different Gender and Protection stakeholders at
Key Result 4:
Knowledge management and knowledge sharing
• Provide brief updates on the development of gender related issues in the Cluster.
• Provide assistance in data collection, compiling lessons learned, establishing indicators to support knowledge sharing.
Education and Relevant Experience:
• Degree in Gender studies, Law, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Development studies or related field with two years of relevant experience in the field of gender related projects with additional understandin
